SQL Server Backup and Restore – Back to Basics
Peter Tran, Sr. Technical Lead PROS Revenue Management
Backup and restore is a fundamental skill required of any DBA regardless of level. There are a lot of 3rd party sophisticated tools to help with SQL Server backup and restore, but it is still important skillset to know how to do this the old fashion approach using only tools available with SQL Server. In this presentation, we’re going back to basic. We’ll review the fundamental of backup and restore. The topics we’ll be reviewing are the SQL Server components involved, types of backup, and recovery models. Demonstration will be provided on different backup and restore strategies. If you’re a new DBA, then this presentation is definitely for you. Even if you’re a season pro, it will be a good review of the fundamentals.
